This coffee is the result of a partnership between San Cristobal Coffee Importers and COOPAGRY, a producer cooperative founded in Peru’s Junín region by the Vivanco family, third-generation coffee farmers from Yapaz Bajo. In a region long shaped by middlemen and unequal market access, the family created COOPAGRY(Cooperativa Agraria Group Think Yapaz) in 2021 to help small producers gain fair compensation and direct access to specialty coffee markets.
With support from Seattle-based San Cristobal, including training internships in Mexico and the implementation of their proprietary FincaLab® quality management system, the Vivanco family united nearly 100 local coffee-producing families to improve coffee quality and coordinate exports. By collectively reserving their best coffees for specialty export, COOPAGRY successfully completed its first export harvest, increasing producer income and creating new opportunities for long-term growth, including investmentsin a centralized wet mill and permanent cupping lab.
ANTARI (Cooperativa Agraria Antari Rio Tambo) is one of COOPAGRY’s key sourcing partners. Founded in 2019, ANTARI quickly earned a strong reputation for high-quality coffee processing and building relationships among small farming groups.
Today, ANTARI includes 40 coffee-producing members and plays an important role in helping COOPAGRY secure export volumes and connect with farmers in more remote regions of the area.
